2006 : Nabogroho and Dwadosh Rashi

This year we are indeed proud to be able to re-discover a precious art form of our rural Bengal – “Pora Mateer Shilpa”, and by inculcating it in our theme we are trying to make a sincere attempt to save a few of our artisan brothers from getting lost in oblivion. To match this wide adored traditional Art & craft form, we have selected the Mythological Faith – “NABOGROHO and DWADOSH RASHI” – as the subject for this year, illustrated by means of Pora Mateer Handicrafts blended with Mix medium. The main Pandal will portray the anecdote of DWADOSH RASHI that has its root to Greek Mythology, and we are sure, the vibrant hues and exquisite craftsmanship would create ripples among the onlookers.

2005 : Valley of Flowers

It is said that once Sri Ramchandra when went to his disciple, the disciple offered a JUICY FRUIT OF HIMALAYA from his own dish to the two brothers. Though the present was nice but in utter abhorrence he refused to have and threw it away. From that fruit gradually there was the birth of the ‘Sanjivani’ herb. Later, in the battlefield when Laksman became faint the there was the need of this special medicine. Owing to ignorance Hanuman brought the entire ‘Gandhaman’ for treatment. The Gods from the heaven shower candid praises for this strenuous effort. To mythology form these flowers happened the birth in the Himalayan range of a gorgeous garden. This is known to us as “Valley of Flowers”.

2004: Chandsadagar and his Saptadinga Madhukar Tori

When the order of the day is to give more and more importance to illuminating and decorating the PUJA PANDALS by means of latest Technological and mechanical equipments, the LAKE PALLY DURGOTSAV COMMITTEE takes the bold step of bringing RURAL BENGAL in the heart of a thriving urban Settlement . Last year’s theme has been the famous CHHOU OF PURULIA and it was the COMMITTEE’S vow to relieve the poor and starving CHHOU DANCERS’ of their misery.

This year by inculcating the folktale of CHANDSADAGAR and his SAPTADINGA MADHUKAR TORI, as the theme, the COMMITTEE would make sincere efforts to provide earnings for the poverty-stricken POTOSHILPIS (artisans who draw and paint on terrocotta or hand make objects) of Medinipur.

2007 : "Ami Ma, Sobar Ma"

This time we had visualized an concept by rediscovering Bengali art and culture in a wonderful theme "ami ma, sobar ma". We have given shape to reality in themes that touches our hearts to the core. Rupchand Kundu had done this theme work for "Santoshpur Lake pally Sarbojonin Durgotsav" on this special occasion, where they were celebrating the completion of 50 years of this Durgapuja.  On the eve of its golden jubilee, Santoshpur Lake Pally Puja Committee wants to make it even more special for the Kolkata crowds and wants it to be etched in the mind of each person for whom Durgapuja festival means something special. In all respects, Rupchand Kundu has been a great help to Lake Pally Puja Committee.
